Monopo-Linkage
A friend of mine's working up a near human-sized Monopoly game for some friends and associates. This here's a list of links that I thought might either be helpful to her to accomplish her job of making a personalized Monopoly game, or it'll help her get through the stressful experience of making a personalized Monopoly game. Mostly I found stuff about Monopoly's trials and tribulations thoughout it's near century old history. Probably not very useful to you but very interesting all the same.
- Flowchart (of course) of how Monopoly started and where it went.
- More Than A Game Britannica.com's resource list, from Parker to Gates.
- Darrow's White Box What Monopoly looked like in 1933, compleat with rules. One of the oldest near-mint sets known to exist.
- The Onion reports on Parker Brother's anti-trust issues with the government. *smirk*
- What a Tangled web we weave, eh? A report from 1976 that Darrow may not have been the inventor of Monopoly. The plot thickens over fifty years later.
- DotcomOpoly Parker Brothers brings us a sign of the apocalypse.
- The Drinking Game ...I kid you not.

Amanda updated me in email on the status of a couple people to help me update my links mentioned back on my birthday. Renee's new home looks crisp and clean, and Amanda said Michael Rawdon moved to Spies, which is also home to Gus, Diane, Ceej and other people with more talent and staying power than me. Dis ain't an online journal. Ain't really a weblog. It's me occasionally rambling at walls. If you happen by and listen in, I'm pleased to have your company, but I bet I'd be talking to walls even if people weren't around to listen. Cuz ah be a loonatic iz whut ah be! =) My thanks to Amanda for setting me straight on a couple things there. She said she found a few in my old listing that she'd like to "keep track of myself." I'm pleased it served somebody well.
Oh, and this may exist longer than I thought. I'm working with Ryan on insuring I'm all caught up on the finances and maybe eventually we can even change the locks on the door so I can get back in and maybe dust the cobwebs away a little. Not sure how much time I can devote to fixing that old house though, and I've kinda grown out of it. The story's over. I mean I'm done. Found the final chapter two years later. It's time to write a new story. And I'm working on that. With a little help from my friends.
Stay tuned. It's gonna be somethin'. =) And it's all good. Even the bad stuff. It's been a great ride so far.

Since this may not exist much longer, I may need to go through the old links there and salvage what still works.
Other Journals - The Big Three
When I was still reading online journals with any regularity, there were usually three that I'd visit at least daily. This big three list changed periodically. The following are some of the ones who remained on that list for at least a time. First off, I should point out that Spring is now top on the list, because of all the people who rubbed elbows with me during my stay in the journaling community (such as it was), she's the one soul who weathered both good and bad, and kept the tether connected. For that I'm thankful.
Al Schroeder's Nova Notes and Bill Chance's Daily Epiphany deserve awards for consistency, longevity, and distinctive class. These guys are the epitome of how to do an online journal correctly. They are incredibly different in both content and form, yet equally impressive each in their own right. Of the online journals that at one time or another were in my personal "big three" these two have stood the test of time. Bryon Sutherland's old 'semi-existence' site is gone. It moved a number of times but now appears to be unsearchable. He even took it off of GeoCities. His influence is still felt though. His face or name still pops up now and then. Wherever ya are, Bryon. Thanks for being a pioneer, dude. Jade Leaves is still online, but I'm unsure for how long. Ginkgo's no longer with us. Although I miss her, I think these three sentences are more than sufficient to dwell upon her. Moving on. Maggy will forever blow the doors off their hinges, in the same quiet way used by Alanis Morissette when she beeped Linda Fiorentino's nose. I will never do her justice as a critic. I gave up long ago. It is good to see her presence still felt online in some limited capacity.
Other Journals - The Short List
The short list got rather long, didn't it? Gossamer is still there occasionally, and she's still using the graphic she asked me to make for her. She's still fighting CFIDS and a lot of other stuff. It's good to see she's still kicking. Only wish I could do something more than just stare and feel pity. Sometimes that's what it felt like I was doing with my ex-wife. Turned out she had fibromyalgia, but CFIDS was one of the things they kicked around a few years ago, and I felt totally helpless and worthless then and I still do. Nilknarf has been online for 1775 days and counting. Ceej is still talking business and like always I only understand about 50% of what she's saying. "...the billing system of PACC/ISPChannel..." It's like reading spanish. The Mighty Kymm is now Sweet as a Biscuit, but then she always was. Wow. I don't think Willa's ever looked better. Linda is (alive and well) which is good to see. Tracing's become obsessive compulsive workaholic manic and apparently loving ever nanosecond. Up From Sloth still stands to be counted.
Under the Pink has become Lantern Waste and was Perplexity & Redemption for awhile, but she's apparently playing with her weblog more often. Nicholas E. Grinder has gone through many incarnations and appears to be on hiatus - possibly working on yet another revamp. Good luck Nick ole buddy, but I beat you in the indolence department. Gus is still kicking. A little older. A little wiser. But not by much. He succeeded where I failed, and for that I am colored impressed. If memory serves, he and I share the same birth month, and are the same age. Yeah I know. Spooked me too. I thought Carolyn stopped for good but apparently not. Kinda makes me wonder if I can come back, or if I should. Did I ever leave? Heh. Ben Turner? Check. Anita's Book of Days? Check. Coredumps? Check. Journi? Unchanged for over two years, but still there. David Siegel? Precisely the way I last saw it. Good to know some things never change.
Tangerine appears fresh but further inspection shows although the colors are still vibrant, this rainbow has sadly faded. It was swallowed up by the imagery and the moment. And to think, he once thought he had nothing to say. Diane Patterson? The Paperwork became Nobody Knows Anything which has not been updated in almost half a year. Jen went private, and appears to have faded away. Like so many. Kristal moved, then she disappeared. A search for Bryon Buck's Meyhem only brings up my old page that linked to him. Shame. Amanda's Precipice hasn't officially made it into the New Year, but her presence is still nearby. Can't Find Red Fish, Fresh Little Puddles is no more and both Michael Rawdon and Renee Daughtry aren't where I last saw them. I'll skip the rest of the ones I can't find. Time seems to be a relentless beast, but also rather forgetful. Eroding some away and leaving others unscathed to just accumulate cobwebs and dust.
Other Journals - Resources
Metajournals.com Gone? That shocked me, but Diarist.net weathered time well. About.com too. The Collab is still there but no longer being used. Lynda is better at this than I am. Renee used to be. This one's still an interesting idea but I dunno. And finally, I'm an Earth Monkey.

Wow. Here Be Dragons might very well be the best dragon-related site on the Internet. Reminds me of an ex-girlfriend. Shame I don't talk to her anymore. She'd really like this place. I'm particularly impressed with Jennifer Walker's descriptions of dragon physiology, although I wish she'd lend more focus on the eastern hemisphere. Ancient Chinese mythology is where dragons really kick some major ass, but her concentration appears to be anglo-saxon in nature.
